The Way West, 1967Oregon
locations near Coburg, Bend and Christmas Valley were used in the making of this
epic. A western set was built outside of Coburg near the Willamette river.
It was unfortunately burned by vandals after the film was completed.
Some of the celebrities in the cast eventually bought homes in Oregon and continue
to live in the state. The Coburg set is pictured on the left, the lodge
on the right is now part of the Sunriver Resort in Bend. Kirk Douglas is
wearing the red cape. Robert Mitchum is leaning on the post to his right.
